This month Four Culture completed a campaign for New Vic Theatre’s Circus Past, Present and Future season in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. The birthplace for Philip Astley, the founder of the first modern Circus, the season celebrated their local hero and joined the national Circus250 anniversary programme.
The team launched the season with a major new show by contemporary travelling circus NoFit State and a specially curated outdoor photography exhibition from the circus archives of the Victoria & Albert Museum which was featured in The Guardian.
The highlight was a brand new in-the-round theatre production produced by New Vic Theatre, Astley’s Astounding Adventures, which retold his story from humble beginnings in Newcastle-under-Lyme to the world-renowned circus phenomenon that captured the hearts of millions. The show received 4* reviews across the board in The Stage, The Observer and The Guardian. Do watch out for feature interviews with the show’s Director Theresa Heskins in Country Life and Co-Director Vicki Amedume in The Stage in August as well.
