The SELPH training programme (Skills, Excellence and Leadership in Pulmonary Hypertension) was established in 2013 to support clinicians and clinical fellows with their leadership skills. The programme is still running today and each year opens to a new intake of ~10 professionals (now including nurses and pharmacists), whilst still supporting those who joined the SELPH programme at the beginning.
Each new candidate completes a behaviour profile assessment so that the training modules and one-to-one coaching sessions are tailored to individual needs. By enhancing the non-clinical skills of those who provide pulmonary hypertension (PH) services, the programme aims to create the next generation of clinical leaders who will go on to maintain and improve service provision and care for patients in the UK. The programme receives glowing feedback from both the candidates and the steering committee of PH experts who help shape its content.
