BBC Live at the Castle

This Live Nation music spectacular was a feat of logistics: 15 miles of cable, 20 juggernauts used to transport the staging and a 50-tonne crane used to lift the stage into place.

There were a diverse bill of acts from the worlds of pop, comedy and opera, including Motown legend Smokey Robinson, Paloma Faith, Il Divo, Bill Bailey, Katherine Jenkins, and the reunited Culture Club.

Launching with The One Show’s Alex Jones, Kaiser Chief’s Ricky Wilson and comedian Fred MacAulay, our three week campaign trailing new acts and driving ticket sales was nothing if not fast and furious.

Broadcast live from the historic castle landmark, the sell-out concert also witnessed the arrival of the Queen’s Baton as the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards piped their way through 500 Miles and the TV cameras did their best to cope in the rain and mist.
