Case Study
Carnival Cruise Lines

Client
Four Communications was appointed in spring 2008 to handle the launch of Carnival Splendor, the largest cruise ship to operate from the UK.

Objective
A PR campaign was required to introduce and launch a super liner during a period when a number of cruise ships had been introduced to the UK which had created an element of media fatigue. Four used the American spelling of Carnival Splendor to create an opportunity for the brand. Four developed a campaign for the cruise liner highlighting that the ship had everything and ‘the only thing missing is you’ to create a fun persona for the cruise liner.

Solution
Four secured Splendor Godmother Mylene Klass and handled the announcement, generating a huge amount of anticipation and excitement for the launch. Four also handled the naming ceremony and a raft of broadcast interviews and photographic opportunities. Four also focused on securing media from consumer, trade and specialist outlets to experience the naming ceremony and inaugural sailing form the UK.

Results
Four generated outstanding media coverage with over 500 features and images appearing in national and regional media in addition to television and broadcast interviews.
